Wastewater Collection Crew

Newport Utilities has an immediate opening for the Wastewater Collection Crew. This position is responsible for performing the necessary operations required for safe and effective operation of wastewater service, including preventive maintenance and repair on sewer lines, locating and marking sewer lines, extending new sewer lines, maintaining pump stations, treatment plant lines, investigate customer complaints, etc. Stand-by rotation is required. This position frequently requires exposure to extreme heat and cold temperatures, descending into manholes, pump stations, and ditches and occasionally climbing ladders to extreme heights at the wastewater plant. Must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate. Must possess adequate computer skills to complete time sheets and other electronic reports as required. Must possess a Class II Collections System License or acquire a Class I Collections System License within 24 months from date of hire – as issued by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, followed by obtaining a Class II Collections License. Must possess and maintain a valid TN driver’s license. Must possess or obtain a valid Tennessee CDL license. Excellent benefit package and salary commensurate with qualifications. Broadband Department Manager

If you are seeking an exciting management opportunity in a family friendly community in a beautiful rural setting called Newport, TN, then look no further! Newport Utilities is actively seeking a motivated and dynamic Broadband Department Manager. This position will oversee start-up operations for CATV, Internet and telephone on FTTx infrastructure and includes keeping current on product knowledge; responding to customer inquiries and the establishment of day-to-day tactical planning for outside plant and back office operations; controlling and planning daily work activities of outside plant technicians; maintaining a safe and orderly workflow for technician’s daily assignments; and coordinating subscriber work orders and service calls. Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent experience in the telecommunications industry required; Minimum of five years’ hands-on fiber optic experience and knowledge required; Must possess operating and maintenance knowledge of FTTx operating processes and procedures; Minimum of five years’ experience with ISP and Telephony operations and maintenance required; Advanced computer skills that applies a high degree of working knowledge/networking operations and provisioning required. 2-4 years of management experience preferred.
