Utility Bill Due Date Schedule Change - Frequently Asked Questions
How many days from the bill date will the payment due date be?
The payment due dates will be calculated as 15 days from the bill date (this is a standard for Utility companies).
Will my first bill with the new due date include more than 30 usage days (will my bill be a higher dollar amount than normal)?
No. Read dates have remained mostly unchanged, therefore the number of usage days on the first bill in July should be the same. The biggest change on the first bill will be that you will receive it sooner and the due date will be sooner. After the first bill, you’ll receive a bill just like today, about every 30 days.
For a few Customer’s within certain routes, your first bill in July under the new due date schedule, may come in the same month as your prior bill. If this is a financial constraint for you, please call Customer Service and we will work out an arrangement with you.
What if I am on Bank-draft or Recurring Credit Card, will the date the funds are withdrawn from my bank account or charged to my credit card change too?
Yes. The date we process the bank-draft or recurring credit card charge is the same as your payment due date. So since your due date is changing this will change as well. But remember, there will be 15 days between the bill date and the due date so you will know the exact date of when we will process the payment to your bank account or credit card days in advance.
Can I ask that my due date be changed?
As a benefit for Customers who are in good credit standing on their Utility Bills, or are on or willing to go on, Bank-draft or Recurring Credit Card, we can now allow you to choose a different billing cycle (reading route # will stay the same, we can move you to a different cycle that has the due date you prefer). Please call Customer Service at 1-423-625-2800 to see if you qualify for this special benefit or to learn more about this offering.
Will my due date always be the same date each month?
No, but it should always be within the same date range from month to month. The reason why it will not be the same exact date each month is because if the read date for your route falls on a weekend in one month, then the read date will move ahead by a day or two as will the bill date. For example:
If the targeted read day for your meter is normally the 2nd of the month, then we would normally bill on the 4th of the month. Your bill will have a due date of the 19th of the month (bill date plus 15 calendar days).
However, let’s say the next month, the 2nd falls on a weekend (Saturday). Therefore we will not read your meter until Monday the 4th and will not bill until the 6th. In this case, the due date for the next month will be the 21st verses the 19th
When will the due date change go into effect?
The new due dates should begin on the bill you receive in the month of July.
